Friendship on the Mayflower

Dear Lizzy,

How is your friendship with Mary going?  You guys were together since you first got on the Mayflower.  My friendship with many of my friends (in the 21st century) has lasted since kindergarten.  (I’m in the 4th grade now.)  If you don’t know what I’m talking about, — it is school.  We have grades here in the 21st century.  (Grades are levels of knowledge.  After kindergarten, kids move to first grade, second grade and so on.)

Sincerely,

Jhamalia, your 21st century friend

P.S. My friend Aaliyah says you probably could not wait to get to the new world.  She was hoping prayer kept you sane.

Hunting in the 17th Century

Dear Pometacomet,

How do you like hunting?  Here where I live I go to the store to get meat.  You pay for meat and drink by using money that is green and made out of paper.

Love, Christopher

More hunting questions for Pometacomet

Dear Pometacomet,

Do you feel bad that you have to kill animals?  In the 21st century we don’t have to kill animals.  We can buy it from a store that has vegetables, fruits and other stuff you want.  There are some stores where you can get deer (venison)rabbit or any of the other stuff you mentioned.

What does the sobaheg taste like?  Is it good?  Do you eat it all the time?

Sincerely,

Your Friend Hazel

Letters to Pometacomet

Dear Pometacomet,

I know how you felt with the English Separatists stole your corn.  You must have been like, “What’s up?!”  In the 21st century if someone steals, we call the po po.  (That’s the police!)

I bet the sobaheg is very good.  How does it feel to hunt?  Is it fun and educational?  I want to taste sobaheg.

My friend Jaquan also says that he is sorry that the English Separatists stole your corn.  He wishes he could have done something to help you.

Sincerely,

Devon

More Letters to Mayflower Lizzy

Dear Lizzy,

I know how squished you felt when you had to go to bed on the Mayflower.  I know how it feels to have people all over you when you are traveling because in the 21st century when me and my Dad got on a train, there was a woman who was kind of big.  She sat next to me and it was really tight in my seat.  My friends Skyla and Luyany say that sometimes on a crowded vehicle, you just have to ask people to move.  Sometimes you need to see if there is any other spot you can fit into.

My friend Kenya says she would just be disgusted if she had to sleep in cramped quarters with strangers on the Mayflower.  Did you feel the same way?

Sincerely, Michelle
